Officially old

So I guess I’m officially old. I have bought my first pair of ultra comfy extra-cushioned Clarks shoes and that’s proof enough.

I remember reading about how people couldn’t fit into their old shoes after pregnancy.

I naively thought that they would grow longer, not wider. Boy was I wrong. See apparently all the ligaments in your body soften and stretch in anticipation of the birth. Which means that my earlier so slimline and narrow feet now resemble two flatfish (I’m also pretty sure this is nature’s revenge for all the times I’ve teased my mum with her feet).

And you can’t just squeeze two flatfish into tight sky high stilettos without squashing them into oblivion.

So I guess Clarks, Ecco and whatever all those feet friendly shoe places are called will be where I’ll be handing over my credit card in the future.

There’s one good thing about that though: Elliot and I can go shoe shopping together, and so we did. He came home with a pair of lovely brown Clarks sandals.

I hope this post doesn’t look too weird. It’s written on my phone as Elliot decided to water my computer.

High-street find: Coral coloured jelly shoes

The weather is just perfect at the moment, so Elliot and I have been hanging out with other mums and babies in London’s parks.

Being outdoors in the sun calls for bright, summery shoes.

I’m a big fan of jelly shoes, like these coral coloured ones that I bought in Kurt Geiger last month when it was still pouring down with rain every single day.

They cost 25 pounds and are really comfortable.

And I like that they are still quite elegant and not too casual or rubbery looking.

The sensible tan leather sandals

I haven’t worn high heels since the beginning of the pregnancy. It’s not comfortable, definitely not healthy and it just feels wrong to totter around in stilettos .

So I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of very simple leather sandals in a decent quality, that can replace my beloved jelly shoes,  and live on my feet for the rest of the summer.

And yesterday I found the right pair.

These Silas sandals from Office are both cheap and comfy. And they have that perfect durable rubber sole which guarantees a long shoe life and steady feet, even on the most slippery of surfaces.

Wish List: Black Winter Wedges

Mit budget er stramt for tiden, men hvis jeg skulle investere i én ting fra highstreet-butikkerne den kommende efterårs/vintersæson må det blive er par sorte støvler med kilehæl. Praktiske og behagelige men mere elegante end flade støvler. Og så skal de være helt enkle og sorte, gerne med snører eller lynlås. I’m on a tight budget at the moment but if I were to “invest” in one thing from the high street shops for this coming autumn/winter season it would be a pair of ankle-length black wedge booties. Wedges are practical and comfortable but still more elegant than flat boots. I’m strictly aiming for basic black ones with lace ups and/or zipper. Elastic band sandals

Jeg leder stadig efter praktiske sandaler, der kan bære mig gennem sommeren. Faldt over to par på Offices hjemmeside, som jeg ikke har set i butikkerne. Første par hedder “Herman” og er magen til et par, jeg havde sidste år. Måtte smide dem ud, da de var slidt op efter måneders konstant fod-udnyttelse. Fås også i pink og blå og koster 40 pund. English: I’m still looking for practical summer sandals, and spotted two more “elastic band” sandals on the Office website (I haven’t seen them in any of the shops yet). First up is the “Herman”. Seven shoes

I recently received a meme from one of my fellow (and favourite) bloggers, the lovely Helena Halme asking to see my 7 favourite pair of shoes. So here they are without further ado and accompanied by the whitest legs alive:

Let’s start with the oldest first: I bought these green satin Bertie sandals in Copenhagen around 7 years ago. I love the colour, the retro-look and they are actually super comfortable. I haven’t used them for a long time, but I think I’ll have a green revival this summer.

Next up are these equally old Bruno Magli suede shoes with gold squares on the heels. I found them in a charity shop in Copenhagen many years ago, and they were as good as new. I don’t use them that often anymore but the look quite classy with a simple black dress.

I bought these black patent leather peep toes on sale at Russell & Bromley around three years ago. They are so well-made and comfortable = perfect for a long night out. You can’t really go wrong with a pair of Ferragamo flats/pumps. I love the understated elegance, so when I spotted this patent leather pair in a charity shop I had to buy them. I have another pair with a slightly  higher heel plus croco-pattern.

I am a big fan of Jelly shoes and currently have three pairs: these red ones plus two transparent ones w. gold and silver glitter. They’re definitely not the world’s prettiest shoes (and you might end up with sweaty feet) but you can wear them for 100 days straight without even the smallest signs of blisters.

I’m not normally a fan of Aldo Shoes as I think a lot of their shoes are too high and have too  many flimsy, blingy details. But when I saw a picture of these suede wedge sandals on a fashion blog last summer I had to run for the nearest Aldo store. I still love them and will probably wear them until they fall apart. They are so comfortable and I love the edgy look.

I love my Balenciaga sandals. I don’t usually spend to much money on shoes, as I prefer to spend the big amounts on handbags + I tend to abuse my shoes and would feel bad if they were too expensive. So I try to find the more expensive designer shoes on sale or in charity shops. I bought these in the brilliant outlet The Mall in Italy (read about my visit to The Mall here) where they only cost me 115 Euros. They are almost sculpture-like and super comfortable – I recently wore them at a big and very long wedding in Bangkok.

Oh….and if I were to mention an 8th pair it would definitely be these Jeffrey Campbell wedges, they’re my newest favourites.

I’m probably supposed to pass on this meme, but I have a work deadline I better get back to, so that must be some other time 🙂

Tokyo shopping – Jeffrey Campbell wedges

Mine absolutte favoritsko lige nu er de her sorte ruskinds wedge sandaler med guldnitter fra den amerikanske designer Jeffrey Campbell. Selv om de er tårnhøje, er de voldsomt behagelige. Faktisk så behagelige, at jeg helt glemte at jeg havde højhælede på under et halvberuset bar-besøg, og var lige ved at vælte. De kostede omkring 900 kroner i Tokyo, og hvis jeg kender Jeffrey Campbell ret, så kunne de være inspireret af en dyrere designsko fra et andet mærke. Det lever jeg heldigvis i lykkelig uvidenhed om.

In English: These are my absolute favourite shoes right now, at least when it comes to high heels. The studded suede wedges from American designer Jeffrey Campbell are so comfy. In fact so comfy, that I completely forgot that I was wearing high heels one evening at a bar and almost fell over. I payed around 100 pounds for them in Tokyo, and they might be Jeffrey Campbell‘s more affordable version of an expensive designer shoe, as J.C. is known to venture into copy-cat territory.
